Can’t believe it’s taken me over a year to do this project! Well I have been doing lots of other stuff too so maybe it’s not too bad? I was flying with it but now I’ve stalled again, up to V which I’m stuck on, vase maybe? But a really cool, retro vase?!
I’ve started a project based in the cemetery opposite our house, not weird I promise!! I like to go over there for a walk or with Bramble or Dolly when we dogsit, I love looking at the sculptures and gravestones and find it very relaxing. It might seem weird but I’ve loved walking through it at sunrise, sunset, in the snow and fog and I’ve got some interesting shots! Look!
It’s been a while hasn’t it?!
I’ve been busy! I had a maternity and newborn shoot with my friends Sarah and Mark and baby Max. Really happy with the shots and more importantly so were they, they want me to do his Christening pics in August too!
There was a trip to Blackpool to see the lights, then there was Christmas, NY and birthday so not a lot got done for a couple of weeks but I did manage to take a few snaps! Got some shots for this year’s Christmas cards which I wanted to do last year but ran out of time! Got a set of lights for Christmas so had a really good session with my friend Melon before she went to China to look after pandas!! Also did some self portraits too!
I’ve had a few enquiries about sessions but people don’t want to pay, well tough! I’m not doing it for buttons, I put a hell of a lot of work into my sessions and the post production so I’d just rather not do it if people can’t see the value of what I do!
Since then I’ve been really busy getting stuff done for the website (which still isn’t finished cos I’ve changed web designer) and also getting images ready to sell as fine art prints which is really exciting!! I’ll be selling them through LSJ Viewpoint which is a new business but Laura and her dad have big plans and experience so hopefully I’ll get some more exposure!
Got two weddings booked this year, one in June and the other in September. I have mixed feelings about weddings, I get so nervous cos the pressure is on but when I’m there I enjoy them! Michelle is going to assist me on the first one so that should be fun and will help calm me down cos she’ll capture anything I miss!!
I’ve sold several pieces of work to people through my Facebook photography fan page and I am going to put a book together of some of my work too, see if I can flog a few! Been getting a lot of really great comments so I think a book of a selection of my faves would sell. I put a Blurb book together for my sister’s birthday with photos of her kids and it was really good so I’ll probably use Blurb again.
On top of all that I’m still working at the doctors (yaaaawn!) but need the money, can’t wait till the day when I can do my own photography full time!

Ok so I’ve been really slack keeping my blog up to date!! Don’t know where the last couple of months have gone, just seem to be working, eating and sleeping!! Did manage to squeeze in a holiday to Ibiza tho!! Had a great time, nice and relaxing, lots of food and drink but the weather could have been better, it rained on 4 of the 7 days!!! Still really enjoyed it tho as we did get some sunshine too and a tan!!

I left Venture just over a year ago now and I still haven’t got the full website up and running!! Ok, so it took me a while to actually make the decision to set up in business but the majority of the time has been spent doing research, trying to do a business plan, networking and trying to find my style. I’m not a Venture photographer anymore and I didn’t want this new phase of my photography to look like that. I think I’ve found my style now and I’ve got a better idea of what I want to do. Eventually I’d love to make enough money just selling fine art pieces but for now it looks like I’ll have to keep taking whatever jobs come along!!!

Can’t believe I haven’t written or posted any new pics since we moved into our new home! We moved in on the 20th June so been in a month now and we love it! It’s so nice having outdoor space, I just love having a washing line! We have a rose bush too so that was the first thing to get snapped. We bought garden furniture and had the family round for a bbq which got rained on so we’re waiting for some decent weather. Typical British summer, heatwave for a week then storms!!!!
Been continuing with the “Words and Pictures” project but haven’t done any alphabet for a while, I plan to do lots on my week off next week!! Also, got booked for another wedding for next year!
I love my Nan’s garden, I’ve got some amazing shots of flowers out there and now the Tulips have been replaced by Peonies! It’s a bit overgrown at the moment so I had to chop at some grass to get the shots, need to spend a whole day there tidying it up for her!!
I can keep tabs on my pics that have made Explore now and I discovered I’ve actually had three, so here they are!!!
I had a feeling this shot would make Explore which is like the top 500 pics on Flickr that day or something!! Not sure how it works but was chuffed to have made it and then doubly chuffed to find I’d actually made it in December too!!
